Benjamin Campbell, M.D.
Dr Campbell was born and raised in the Valley, attending Mesa High School as a proud Jackrabbit. After graduating from Brigham Young University in Utah with a degree in Chemical Engineering, he went on to study medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. While in medical school, he developed a passion for surgery and in particular became interested in the complex anatomy of the eye and periocular region. At Baylor, he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society and graduated with high honor.
After his sojourn in Texas, he returned to Utah for his internship at the Intermountain Medical Center in Salt Lake City. Following his internship, he became a resident at the world-renowned UCLA Stein Eye Institute. While there he trained with many of the top leaders in the field of ophthalmology and specifically ophthalmic facial plastic surgery. He worked hard to develop his surgical skills and was recognized as the top surgeon in his residency class with the Devgan Surgery Award.
Following his residency, he completed a two-year fellowship in the competitive field of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. During his fellowship he honed his surgical skills, with particular focus on periocular and facial plastic surgery, orbital surgery, facial trauma, and facial reconstruction. Throughout his medical training, Dr Campbell has had a passion for teaching and was recognized as an outstanding teacher with awards as both a resident and fellow. He also has published several peer-reviewed articles and taught courses to other physicians on orbital trauma and eyelid reconstruction.
Dr Campbell is now ready to return home to the desert and is excited to use his medical knowledge and surgical skills to help his fellow Arizonians. He is thrilled to raise his children here and share with them many of the same activities he enjoyed as a child. His dad instilled in him a love of hiking and backpacking, which he continues to enjoy doing in the rugged wilderness in Arizona. He loves basketball and is an avid Phoenix Suns fan. He and his wife stay active by regularly participating in CrossFit workouts.
